FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

At Pocono Rabbit Farm & Laboratory, we understand that you may have questions about our services and processes. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions to help you learn more about what we offer and how we can assist with your research needs.

  • Where is your facility located?

All of our custom polyclonal antibody production work is done right here in our Canadensis, Pennsylvania facility. Unlike some of our competitors, we do not subcontract out your antibody production. MADE IN THE USA AND PROUD OF IT!

  • Are you approved for international shipping?

Yes, we are an EU APPROVED SHIPPER under TRACES (PA-TEC-0009). We can accommodate and ship worldwide with the USDA Health Certificates.

  • How long have you been in the antibody production business?

We have been in the Antibody Production business for over 60 years and we are still family-owned and managed. Our name and reputation stand behind every project.

  • Do you provide comprehensive services for antibody production?

Yes, there's no need to go through several separate vendors and establish various Purchase Orders to accomplish your goals. We provide assistance from the selection and design of your immunogen through antibody purification and validation, labeling, assay optimization, to RNA archiving and Phage Display Library Development.

  • What types of antigens can you develop antibodies for?

We have experience in the development of antibodies to a variety of antigen forms such as Native and Recombinant Proteins, Peptides, and inactivated viruses expressing complex GPCR receptors. We also have expertise in various modes of antigen delivery, from classical adjuvant injection to Electroporation injections.

  • Are your technicians certified?

Yes, our technicians are certified by the American Association of Laboratory Animal Sciences (AALAS). This ensures that our technicians have extensive training and experience with bleeding, injecting, caring, and handling research animals.

  • Can you suggest protocols for my project?

We are able to suggest injection and bleeding protocols based on our past 60 years of experience. We can recommend the best host species for your antigen and offer the flexibility to choose, modify, or use your protocol. We recognize that one protocol is not the best for all antigens and are willing to work with you to develop the best protocol for your project.

  • Do you have an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)?

Yes, we have an IACUC that approves all protocols. Our preapproved protocols for antibody production ensure no delay in starting your project. If you have a unique protocol, we can usually follow it within our guidelines, and our IACUC can write approval letters to your institution or funding agency if required.

  • How do you ensure the well-being of the animals in your care?

We have a state-of-the-art, environmentally controlled, and monitored animal facility. Temperature, humidity, and lighting are maintained at constants recommended by The Guide for the Use and Care of Laboratory Animals. This ensures that results are not altered by environmental stress.

  • What is your goal in providing custom antibody production services?

Our goal is to provide you with high-quality “functional” custom antibodies. Call us to discuss your project and see how we can help you achieve your research goals.
